About Risk College

Developing risk professionals and promoting practical risk based decision making applications

Risk Management & Risk Engineering

Planning, designing, constructing and operating major projects and infrastructure assets, including buildings, bridges, power stations, telecommunication towers, power transmission lines, oil & gas projects, water and wastewater treatment plants and many more, requires a wide range of specialists and engineers to accurately assess and balance conflicting interests, such as the trade-off between cost, resilience and benefits.

Engineers apply the principles of science and mathematics to develop economical solutions to technical problems. Their work is the link between scientific discoveries and the commercial applications that meet societal and consumer needs. Many engineers develop and maintain products and infrastructure assets. During these processes, they consider several factors, including functional requirements, design and test of components, the design’s overall effectiveness, cost, reliability, and safety.

In developing and delivering projects as well as operating assets, good risk management and risk engineering practices should not operate in a silo, but should be embedded in day-to-day decisions and processes, supporting business to achieve its objectives.
